Les artisans qui perpétuent la tradition de la broderie Ari, un point de chaînette réalisé à la main et transmis de génération en génération. Brodé sur du coton Kala tissé à la main, provenant de Khamir Craft au Gujarat, chaque panneau est travaillé sur un cadre avant d’être assemblé au vêtement, un processus qui s’étend sur trois jours, voire plus. Md. Ashraf, maître brodeur du Bengale, utilise le point de chaînette ari pour créer des motifs aux rythmes fluides. Des broderies fines et presque invisibles aux textures audacieuses et en relief, chaque motif est entièrement réalisé à la main, témoignant de la finesse discrète d’un artisan expérimenté et de la lenteur d’un savoir-faire ancestral.

Fondée en 2013 dans la capitale Indienne de New Delhi, Kardo propose une collection qui va à l’encontre de la « fast-fashion » et de la production de masse. 

Une approche créative qui a choisi de rendre hommage à de nombreuses techniques traditionnelles indiennes de tissage ou de teinture en les adaptant aux exigences actuelles.

The artisans who perpetuate the tradition of Ari embroidery, a chain stitch worked by hand and passed down through generations. Embroidered on handwoven Kala cotton from Khamir Craft in Gujarat, each panel is worked on a frame before being assembled into the garment, a process that takes three days or more. Md. Ashraf, a master embroiderer from Bengal, uses the Ari chain stitch to create patterns with flowing rhythms. From fine, almost invisible embroidery to bold, raised textures, each motif is entirely handcrafted, reflecting the understated skill of an experienced artisan and the deliberate pace of time-honored craftsmanship.

100% undyed khadi cotton, hand-embroidered Khadi is organic cotton spun and hand-woven by Udyog Bharti. These garments were then hand-embroidered by Md Ashraf, an experienced embroiderer from Bengal, using the chain stitch technique called Ari. Each panel is individually embroidered on a frame before being stitched.

Founded in 2013 in the Indian capital of New Delhi, Kardo offers a collection that goes against « fast fashion » and mass production. A creative approach which has chosen to pay homage to many traditional Indian weaving or dyeing techniques by adapting them to current requirements.
